Cariboo Community Deathcaring Network

The November Death Café is happening Tuesday November 26^th at the Library in the Meeting Room. Starts at 5:30 pm and runs to 7:30. It would be great if everyone could bring along a friend or family member. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Good News!!

Cariboo Community Deathcaring Network is now a registered non-profit society in the province of BC under the official title of Cariboo Community Deathcaring Association.
We have successfully completed all our conditions of funding received from the Central Cariboo Arts and Culture Society for the Swan Song Festival.
We received $1000 from the CCACS and $500 from the Williams Lake Community Arts Council. The $500 went directly as $100 honorariums to the artists who contributed to the festival and the $1000 covered our expenses for food, decorations, displays, advertising and art project supplies. We were left with $100 which we used to pay for our non-profit registration.

Ideas for the upcoming year:

We will be holding virtual death cafes ( over the cold winter months when no one wants to leave the comfort of their homes) via Zoom which is a free meet up space online. Think you might be interested? It’s easy to join a Zoom meeting. You can turn your camera on or off as you like. Let us know if this might interest you. Thanks.
A workshop for those who might be interested in learning how to build a simple (and beautiful) pine box to be personally involved in your own inevitable death or if you might want to build a casket for a loved one.
Looking into offering willow weaving workshop for creating a willow casket, if we can find a weaver who is interested and knows how to build one of these beauties.
Workshop on how to make your own burial shroud and carrier.
When Someone We Love is Dying: A workshop on what we, as family and friends, can and cannot do. The legalities and the possibilities.
Natural Burial. A public presentation on what it is, what it isn’t and what our options are.
An All Souls Celebration for next November (see the Vancouver Cemetery’s site for their All Souls Celebration that’s been happening for 15 years)
